5 out of 5 stars Reinforcing the other reviews   October 10, 2008
Tyeve (Victoria, British Columbia Canada)
I bought this book because of the reviews on Amazon, and I wasn't disappointed. I agree with reviewer Bill Martin -- this book has helped me improve my photography more than anything else I have read. (Thanks for that recommendation, Bill.) It has helped me make much better photos with my DSLR. I would also recommend the same author's "Understanding Shutter Speed". (His "Understanding Digital Photography", however, is not as good and I would pass on it.)

5 out of 5 stars this book is the one   September 22, 2008
J. Pallister (Ontario, Canada)
If it could be just one book, this would be the one. There is more information, clearly written in this book, then the many books and courses I have read previously. Bryan has a way of explaining things that finally makes sense.

5 out of 5 stars Exposure Explained   June 29, 2008
Terri Peatt (Sidney, BC Canada)
When I purchased this book, I was thrilled at how precise and easy to follow it was. As an amateur and self taught photographer, finding a GREAT book makes my day.. This one really did. Well worth a read.. I even bought a copy for my Doctor.

5 out of 5 stars The best starting spot for Photography   June 18, 2008
Bashar A. (Toronto, ON)
This is the first book I bought on Photography and I think is the best starting spot. I tried learning by reading on the net but I found it very confusing and never gave me the confidence to enter the manual mode of my camera. This book will make concepts very easy and it will encourage you take better exposures. Highly recommend it for beginners but if you are a seasoned professional then stay away from this one, I can't see much you'll learn by going through this book.

4 out of 5 stars Great Read   December 17, 2007

I just recently bought my first digital SLR camera and was researching for some good books to start me off on my path of learning and came across this one. The authors explanations are very easy to understand and his photo examples are fantastic. I would recommend this book to anyone who is start photography as a hobby or as a profession.
